Smart Works is a UK charity that provides high quality interview clothes, styling advice and interview training to women in need. They give women the confidence, the self-belief and the practical tools they require to succeed at interview and start a new chapter of their life. Hope has been working with Smart Works Reading since 2016 by donating Hope clothing – it is one of seven Smart Works centres across the UK which have helped more than 11,000 women in total back into employment. Smart Works Reading has more than 60 amazing volunteers and has helped more than 1000 women on the road back into employment since it opened in 2015.
They provide high quality, work appropriate outfits, styling advice and interview coaching to work-capable women in the Thames Valley. They help women to feel confident, look fabulous, succeed at their job interview and move on with their life. The service at Smart Works Reading is open to any women in the Thames Valley area who has a confirmed job interview. The service is free of charge and the outfits are kept by the women, who can also come back for a capsule wardrobe when they are successful in getting the job. The service is carried out by fully trained volunteers who are often experienced HR professionals.
Figures have shown that one in two of the women helped by Smart Works goes on to get the job and 95 per cent of clients say their Smart Works sessions boosted their confidence in succeeding at their job interviews.
Hope Founder and CEO Nayna McIntosh is also an Ambassador of Smart Works Reading, most recently participating in their debut Smart Talks event at Henley Literary Festival.
