Hope for Real Women

Hope for Real Women

hope-for-real-women-wordpressI have been looking forward to this edition of our magazine because it gets right to the heart of why we set up Hope, providing style solutions for real women with real bodies! At Hope we want to create stylish, quality garments that are easy to wear and make you feel fabulous whatever your shape or age. Lots of women tell me how disenfranchised they’ve become with shopping on the high street. These are women who want to update their current look but are not sure how, particularly if their body shape has changed along the way. So in this edition we want to celebrate real women, some of whom we have met for the first time on our Hope journey such as: the gorgeous Gabi who shown here wearing the Cotton Silk Cocoon Shirt, the supremely stylish 40+ fashion blogger Catherine Summers who has been a supporter of Hope from the start, to the inspiring Tricia Cusden from Look Fabulous Forever whom we met recently, Tricia kindly allowed us to ‘style’ her for the day and thankfully was delighted with the results. Over the last six months we’ve hosted a number of events at the Home of Hope in Oxfordshire and this has given us the opportunity to meet some of you in person and hear first hand how you feel about the Hope collection. We’ve made some great friends who in turn have become wonderful ambassadors, such as my lovely neighbour Ann who we think looks just as stunning as Gabi in the Cotton Silk Cocoon Shirt, I hope you agree. So what better way to celebrate our Spring Summer collection than by hearing what real women have to say about the Hope brand?

catherine-summers-wordpressCatherine Summers: Award- winning 40+ Style Blogger

Meet Catherine, a 43 year old, ex-London resident who now lives with her husband in Devon. Catherine launched her blog – www.notdressedaslamb.com – to encourage women of all ages to ditch those crazy notions of ‘age appropriate’ dressing. She writes about her personal style and high street picks as well as ageing issues and health, beauty and fitness. Here is what Catherine has to say about Hope. ‘Hope’s pieces are modern, stylish and of such beautiful quality – it’s refreshing to discover a brand that caters for the 40+ and offers a shopping experience that suits this age group. Everything about the brand – from the look of their website to the models and sizing they use – is fresh and exciting. I’m sure they will continue to make an impact in a market that is sorely lacking in ranges for smart, older women who love dressing up and want to look great.

Tricia Cusden - Founder of Look Fabulous Forever

tricia-cusden-wordpressI met Tricia in February of this year at an event and was instantly struck by her confident and effortless style. Tricia, who is 68, launched her own range of make-up specially formulated to benefit older faces, eyes and lips. She also writes about the joys and challenges of living in an ageist society. We had an instant connection, so I invited Tricia to the Home of Hope to review the latest collection. Here’s what Tricia had to say. ‘Shall I be completely honest? At that first meeting when I was shown the clothes (on hangers) and the design concept was explained to me I was deeply sceptical. My immediate thought was “they wouldn’t suit my pear shaped body and would they really work on someone (as they claimed) who was a size 20+?” I tend to prefer quite fitted, tailored clothes and these designs appeared softer and less structured than I would usually choose. I am very happy to tell you that the Hope Spring/Summer Collection came up trumps. I moved quite quickly from sceptic to convert and I now have a wish list of 7 pieces for my summer wardrobe! The design concept of the collection is layering, so the starting point is the foundation pieces. These come in five shapes (long sleeve scoop top, vest, body, leggings and a slip dress) and two lengths - regular and long. All of these foundation pieces are cut for a body-skimming fit in a super soft Italian fabric. There are also pull on stretch trousers in black, navy and ecru. I immediately wanted the navy ‘Cotton Stretch Ankle Grazer’ (size Curvy) which fitted me perfectly. With an elasticated waist, these were super comfortable and very slimming. I also fell for the black and white foundation vests which were long enough to cover my bottom and in size Dual Slim, were very fitted and gave me a great silhouette. I was genuinely delighted with the suggestions that Jaquine made for me and also relieved that the day left me feeling so positive, because I really admire what Nayna is doing with the Hope brand. I can promise you that if you are petite, short and big busted with slim legs, bottom heavy like me or tall and slim like Anna, you would definitely find some lovely pieces in this collection to suit you.’ www.lookfabulousforever.com

Hope at Home

Our Hope at Home events celebrate the fact that real women come in all shapes and sizes. If, like me you find shopping on the high street stressful and anything but relaxing then why not attend or host a Hope event and join a group of like-minded women in an inspirational and uplifting environment. It will give you a chance to experiment with different shapes and discover your most flattering silhouette. You will receive a personal service from one of our stylists who will help you to put outfits together based on your shape and lifestyle, all with a glass of fizz or a nice cup of tea. At Hope we think that shopping should be fun and empowering, I like to call it a ‘back to the future’ way of shopping.
